I was scammed through cash app and need refunded

I received a check that got returned but before it was returned I paid part of the amount to the customers so called mover through cash app with my own money and the next day the check got returned as a bad check and the customer is nowhere to be found or heard of I need to know how to be refunded or how to go after them for my money

Hi @Handyman86. I’m always sorry to hear things like this. Two thoughts.

First, here is a link to the Cash App support page, which includes how to contact them.

Second, don’t be surprised if there is not a lot Square can do here. Most likely, you’ll need to get some local legal advice to help you track down the deadbeat. Laws on how to go about this differ from state to state, but you might be able to go through small claims court, depending on the amount. In any case, there is no quick process, usually. These things take time. Have you reached out to the customer’s bank on the check? They might be able to assist you, but I doubt they can give you much information without legal assistance.
