Correct - it is not possible to schedule an appointment without adding a service, @RealToursCR.

Is there a specific reason you are needing to do this?

I have a tour company. My item is the service, the tour.

right now for a bout tour i add the boat for 3 hour and then the service running the tour. Thought there might be an easier way.

You could instead add a service without adding an item, @RealToursCR.

Or do you need to track sales of a physical item along with the boat tour as a service?
