Chip Reader on Square Register

Our internet is down and will be down for several days (we are very remote) and our Square Register is operating offline. The problem is that when inserting the chip it takes several minutes for it to time out and allow the card to be swiped. Is there a way to make the cards "swipeable" without having to insert the chip first?

Hey there, @kjstout17 -

Welcome to the Community & thank you for posting.

Keep in mind when you're using Offline Mode you have to reconnect in 72 hours or you can lose those transactions if you don't don't reconnect in that window.

The Square Register will only allow a swipe when connected to the internet (WiFi) after 3 failed chip-read attempts.

I would suggest using a hotspot instead and turning off the WiFi.
