How do I get the receipt number returned from a successful charge thru the API

I need to capture a unique id coming back from a successful charge. Something I can search on in the Dashboard. I would like the capture the receipt number if possible since the transaction ID that does get returned can't be used to search with on the dashboard. Any idea where I can get the receipt id thru the API?

If you migrate to the Payment API, you would get the entire receipt URL.
