What do you mean by custom attribute? Can you provide an example?

We discover that we could add a custom attribute to our items in inventory. We sell plants. One of the things we like to include on our receipts is the scientific name of the plant. So we added Scientific name as a custom attribute. I would like this custom attribute to be printed on the receipt and not the description field. If this works, than we have three more custom attributes that we would like to add to each item/plant and have them all on the receipt.

I see @jvevans. Thanks for that explanation.

At this time, there isn't a way to add a custom attribute to show on the receipts. The only workaround I can think of is just having one variation per item which should show on the receipt.

I would suggest a modifier, since modifiers don't affect stock or price. For example

Yellow Flowers $9.99

Modifiers :

Yellow Rose

Yellow Daisy

best thing i found about figuring things out about square pos in a retail setting is to think of items as a "Sandwich" You have a sandwich but you want to add a few things or customize it. So modifiers does the job well and makes it easy.
