thread How to tell which Receipt printer you are about to connect to? in Archived Discussions (Read Only)

We have a large-ish network of square terminals and receipt printers. Whenever we set up a terminal we have to add printers. The problem is the list shows 12 printers, all with the same name (e.g. Epson), with no identifier (IP, Mac address) to let us know which is which. So then we have to go through them one-by-one until we hit the correct printer. Isn't there a way to ID the printer before we connect?

Welcome to the Community @RethinkitNY 🎉

I don't think this setting is controlled by Square, and I'm not entirely sure how you would change the printer name for your entire network.

I know you can change the printer name for your Mac following these instructions, but I don't think it would update the name universally for all devices connecting to the printer.

I would try Epson support directly. Maybe there's a way to manage your individual printers by logging into an Epson account.
