Using our non-Square iPad POS enclosure?

Hi. We have a POS enclosure for a grocery cashier and another for a small customer display. Can we use the Square app for running these and connect a Square terminal for payments?

I just read the page for the Square Terminal. Upgrading an existing POS. We want to use the Square app in the iPad in the cashier display, and the smaller iPad for the customer display. Then take payments with Terminal.

I think this will work, but just want to confirm?

I'm not 100% sure I understand the question here - what is a POS enclosure?

Aside from that, it sounds like you're asking if it's possible to connect a customer-facing display to your Square Terminal. The Square Terminal is meant to be both Seller-facing and Customer-facing. IE: Buyers can add a tip etc right on the Terminal

You can add a customer-facing display, but would need to read this page to see how that is possible.
You wouldn't be able to connect the Square Terminal in the way described in the page above.

Have you looked at the Square Register? It sounds like that's what you really want, as there is a "cashier-facing" display as well as a Customer-facing display. Learn more here, and feel free to let me know if other questions come up!

The customer display would likely be on the terminal, but I believe you can use any stand for the iPad the square one is just designed to optimise use of the iPad for business.

But I would say this should definitely be possible as I don't believe the stand has any influence on the way the iPad works / the app runs.

If I have helped at all please mark this as best answer to help future sellers wondering if they can use a stand other than the Square Stand for Square POS.

Thanks! And the knife was a very nice touch. 💥

The POS enclosure we have is from our previous POS provider. What I don't know is if it was just an expensive way to hold the iPads, or if it did something functional.

I appreciate your answer. You're right, the more I look at it the Register is the way to go.

Terminal won't do all we need.

And the iPad we currently have isn't supported for a Stand.

I think our problem is the 12.9" iPad, and no Square Stand fits it that I can tell. Then everything I see says Terminal won't work with the iPad app. I sure was hoping it would work, but we're going to have to go with Register.

The register sounds like a great choice, I don’t use POS tools regularly myself so I was just putting across what I do know, glad you’ve found your solution!
