How can I change my sales tax

I have state sales tax on my square and that's all I've been charging my customers but now I find out that there is also a county and City sales tax and so I need to add that to my sales tax so how do I do that

Hello @Kruserkenneth !

Two ways to go about this, both from the same location on your dashboard:

Items -> Sales Taxes

You should already have the state tax listed here.

-If you know the total percentage needed with all taxes combined, you can edit the state tax and change the percentage. This works for me in Colorado, since we pay all sales taxes through the state and they disburse it to the county and city.

-If you need more in depth reporting or have to file each entity separately, you can create each tax here on this screen. Name them all as the entity's name and use the correct percentages. At tax time, you can then pull a report from the Reports -> Taxes section of the dashboard. It will give you a breakdown of each tax.

Please note: sales taxes are easy to misconfigure, as you found out. 😞 I highly recommend chatting with a local tax professional to make sure you have everything configured correctly. It'll save you another knock on the door.

Hello @PGC !

As i mentioned in the Best Answer post on this thread, your sales taxes are found on your dashboard—Not your online store dashboard but your main Square dashboard. If your web browser’s address bar says square.online then you’re in your online store dashboard. To get to your Square dashboard (website is squareup.com/dashboard), click the top left of your online dashboard and then the Home button.

Once you configure taxes here, it’s just the matter of choosing what taxes each item gets. You can do that right from the tax screen or item by item. Once these taxes are configured your online store will update as well.
