    <description>&lt;P&gt;Thanks for your question &lt;a href="https://community.squareup.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/316974"&gt;@WizardAndrew&lt;/a&gt; , as a fellow biz owner I've wondered the same thing. I guessed that the customer may have set a preference with their credit card company not to release personal information to merchants. I do not know if this is accurate or not; I have also seen their email address covered up, and I think this happens when a customer opts-out of receiving marketing or email messages from merchants through Square. Maybe someone with more direct experience would have a better answer to this question.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I however, probably wouldn't merge these together because even though they all say Cardholder, I suspect they are unique cardholders and not the same person.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Why do I have automatically created entries in the Square Directory for "cardholder" or "[bank] cardholder" instead of the actual cardholder names? Is it safe to merge them? It doesn't help me better understand my customers if I can't tell them apart.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
