Feature Request: Pre-Auth Card Payments and Charge without Card Present

As the title says.

We currently scs. a CC to open a “tab” but we must retain the card behind bar i. a little file until customer is ready to cash out. Unlike systems like Toast, I can’t seem to figure out how to scan the card when we first meet the customer and still be able to charge them later on (post-charge) for a walkout without needing to reswipe/rechip the card to complete the sale.

Woukd be very interested in a solution since keeping a lot of CC cards behind the bar adds a level of inconvenience and liability.

Hi @rawlus. There is an active beta test going on now for Bar Tabs with Pre-Auth. You can ask to join that here. It looks like it only works for the standard Square POS app right now, FYI.
