thread Something is stuck on customer display in Payments Troubleshooting

After working fine, in the middle of a busy day the chip reader in my POS customer facing display will not read cards. It is difficult to enter the card (s).....like the card is getting stuck or something is in the way. I have tried undocking and re-docking the customer facing display and restarting several times. I've tried several cards. Most recently it scratched my card when I tried to insert it. Any ideas? I don't see anything stuck in there, but may a bad chip on someone's card damaged something?

TIA

Hey @LLS3 - Thanks for flagging this!

I’m sorry you’re having trouble with your customer display. Please be gentle when performing the following steps:

1. Turn the display upside down and gently tap the bottom to dislodge any debris.

2. Use a soft brush or feather duster to carefully remove any particles.

If that doesn’t help, you will need to replace the device. If it’s beyond warranty, you can order a new display from our shop at squareup.com/shop.

Let me know if you need anything else!
