thread Multi-item discount in Payments Troubleshooting

I found a couple of threads here about users wanting to add multi-item discounts and it not being a feature. I just figured it out and wanted to post about it to potentially help other users.

My products are $6 each, but I offer a 3 for $15 ($1 discount each) when bundling.

The issue I run into is when customers want to buy 5 items (or 4 or 7), I would like to apply the $1 discount to all subsequent items, making them $5 each. My pitch is "$5 each when you buy 3 or more."

I have traditionally had the "buy 3 and discount each item $1" discount applied, but had to manually discount other items unless the purchase was in multiples of 3 (the discount only applied to each 3-pack).

I've set up a "4 for $20" and "5 for $25" discount rule to hit the in-betweeners and it works! Now, when I ring up 5 items, they are all $5 each without needing to manually apply additional discounts. I tested it with 8 items and the total was automatically $40!

For users wanting to scale this up, just make sue your rules account for any in-between quantities and it should make checking out so much easier.

@ Square you should pin this "feature" so other sellers can get the job done without waiting on a feature rel
