This question was asked last year and the answer then was 'No'. Is the situation the same?

Hey there @walker22. That report doesn't exist because the fundamental feature it would rely upon does not exist. Currently, Square does not save the amount that we tender for transactions. It only uses it to calculate change and display it on our POS checkout flow. Then it's gone.

I've fielded this question before and I always make the same suggestion, which so far no one has taken me up on. Go to the feature request board and request it. I don't know how much broad support it would have, but mostly that's because Ive never had a need for it. Maybe more sellers than I know have cash drawer issues -- something I've not had in over a decade of business. Anyway, it can't hurt to submit it and see how much support it gets.

My reason for asking is that there’s been a few fake notes circulating in my area and I was wondering if this information could help me to pinpoint which sale a fake note was related to.

You're welcome. Honestly, that is probably the best reason I've ever heard for this feature. Most people who ask for it want to use it to ding team members who they think are giving out incorrect change, and it would be useless for that task. Others suggest that it would help them know how many of each bill should be in their drawer, which is patently absurd -- a $20 tender could be one bill, two bills, or four bills which would defeat that pretty quickly!

Anyway, feel free to submit it like I said, and emphasize your rationale. Given your reasoning, I could see myself upvoting it, something I would never have done until our chat. Ha.

This is what I have posted on the Features Board:

Square report to show cash tendered for each sale

I, like other Square users with physical shops/venue, have the challenge of dealing with an increasing number of fake notes in circulation.

Being able to review a daily cash tendered report would prove extremely useful to helping to pinpoint which sale a fake note was related to.

This would help the user see how much the sale was for (and therefore the loss involved) and potentially help identify the customer (through the product bought, customer details if added to sale and even time of sale which could link to CCTV).

Passing on counterfeit notes is a criminal offence and anything Square can do to help crack down on this would be very welcome.
