Add Category to Payment Link Donation?

Hello,

Does anyone know how the donation payment links (the ones you make directly through the payment link interface, and allow for people to input a donation amount of their choice) are categorized?

I'd like to set up a tour to be admission by donation, and while I can make an item for it, which I can then put into the correct category, going from the item interface forces me to put in fixed donation amounts. I'd rather let people chose how much to donate, but I can't find a way to tell square what category that should be placed in.

I'd just like to be able to give the donation payment link a category, so it gets reported correctly, but I can't figure out how.

Hey @HistoryLover — thanks so much for hanging in there.

There currently isn’t a way to add a category to Payment Links. If you create a link directly from your Dashboard, it will let the buyer enter the donation amount they want — are you able to set it up that way? If not, this would fall under a feature request.

If I create an item with a variable price through the "items" part of the dashboard, it doesn't let me make a payment link for it. Going that way, everything needs a fixed price to be able to have a payment link.

If I create it through the "payment links" dashboard, it does let me set it up to be variable - but, as you've clarified, then I can't set categories.
