Setting up a rental business

Hello all,

I am fairly new to square. I was looking around for payment processors and I think square will be the best fit for what I am trying to achieve. I am looking to start a rental business by renting out some of my gear and seeing where that goes. I am looking for a couple of things:

1. Preauthorized deposits. In case the item is not returned/severely damaged.

2. Scheduling (may or may not be possible, I was very interested once I saw the square appointments/services). Looks like you can only do up to 24/48 hours with a 24 hour turnaround time. However, I will be renting out stuff like a tent where people will have if for more than 24h. So I don't think that product will work necessarily (shrug). I am looking into some sort of zapier integration potentially.

Additionally do you think as "sales-based approach" or "service-based" approach would work best?

I would recommend checking out this thread where other sellers talk about their experiences and workarounds they've used. It's from our US Community, but the process would be very similar for your Canadian business.
