Track sales by location

We are a mobile food truck, what is the simplest way to track sales by location? Is there a way to tag the location at the start of the shift? Treat each location as an employee and login as that employee at each location?

I noticed it's your first post, welcome to our community 👋

Do you have multiple food vans that are stationed at different locations, or is it one truck moving around to the different spots? There are a few options you could consider, depending on the scenario. You could try using different device names, to track the individual devices in each van. Creating multiple locations to swap between would also be a great way to manage this. There is no limit on how many locations you can create, just keep in mind that if you have any subscriptions, such as Square for Restaurants, the subscription would apply to each location.

One truck, different spots. Locations seems more robust than necessary (items and inventory, etc.). I also don’t like the idea of not being able to delete locations.

Thank you for clarifying, @Siriously. That's right, locations can't be deleted at the moment, but you can deactivate any unused locations, or re-name them if you move on.

I am not sure if this would work and keep the tracking different.

Look into Device Names / Codes.

I know I can rename my Devices to something more Specific than Ipad for my two points of sale.

So I have the 1 as Cash and CC and the other as CC only. This helps keep my single cash drawer in check. When I changed the Names however the old names of Ipad or Register 1 & 2 still show in the older reports. You did not specify what type of Device you are using for your Sales but my android cell and the Ipads I was able to change their names.

I was even able to name my Cell phone between Square POS and Square Beta Apps.

Maybe just figure out how to Name the Device in Square for each event or location.

I just looked back at my sales from 2020 and the Device Nickname was Ipad. Yesterday the Device Nickname was Cash and Credit Card. From the Transaction Menu and clicking on the Transaction.
