Messages Plus - Send prep & more info?

Hi! I am curious about Messages Plus. I currently use Salesmessage to automate prep instruction texts when a new client is added to my customer directory; I'd like to move everything over to Square.

With Messages Plus, is there a way to send this text out when a client is added to our directory? Will clients have to opt in to texts first? Is it manual?

Thank you for your interest in Square Messages Plus.

We are working to expand this service, but at this time, adding a client to your directory would not trigger a welcome message. First, they would need to opt-in to your communication.

I would suggest leaving a detailed feature request. You can find our Marketing ideate board here.

Thank you for your quick reply!! Will this "opt in" message be sent immediately, then followed up by a text message? Is that currently within scope?

Sorry for the delayed response here.

During Text Message Marketing onboarding, you will be issued a unique phone number to which your customers can text ‘JOIN’ to be added to your opt-in list wherever and whenever it’s convenient for them. After texting JOIN, they’ll receive a confirmation text that they need to respond YES to in order to complete the opt-in process.

The other option for opt-in is for your customers to provide their phone number during checkout.

I read your feature request and understand a bit better how you need this to work for your business.

We are working on expanding the capabilities of Square Messages Plus, so hopefully something that meets your needs is coming soon!
