Does the free URL domain name get redirected to custom domain name when upgrade?

If my current squareup site is "example.square.site" And I upgrade to a custom domain name.

If my customers enters in example.square.site does it automatically redirect to customexample.com.

User clicks example.square.site

User then is redirected to customexample.com

When a seller changes from a free subdomain to a custom domain name (and importantly does not unpublish in between), we automatically forward the old subdomain to the custom domain.

Question For Clarification: If I have old.square.site, and I upgrade to create new.com, does all of my information transfer over to new.com, or do I need to rebuild all my web pages?

Also: does my inventory push to new.com? is it removed from old.square.site? Does and and new stay synche'd in case I decide i want to revert back to the old free site?
