Billing cycles in a subscription plan

When doing a subscription plan, the number of billing cycles, is this the number after the initial purchase or is the total, for instance i have one payment plan that is 2 payments and i set it as expires after one cycle but the second payment did not fire on the expected date that showed in the customer subscription, so did I set this wrong and it should have been 2 cycles?

Firstly, welcome to the Seller Community + sorry to hear that you're here because you've run into trouble. In this case, the cycle is the number of payments expected from the customer. This means that, if you select one cycle they will only be billed once, two cycles would equal two charges, and so forth.
