Can I accept Zelle Payments to a Square Banking account?

Can I accept Zelle Payments to a Square Banking account? I tried to sign up through Zelle, it asked for a debit card number because it couldn’t find Square as a bank and it said that the debit card was declined. I was hoping that I could use my Square Banking account to directly receive Zelle payments.

Hi @spfolino The screen shot below is a disclaimer about Square Checking accounts. Since they are not “demand deposit accounts,” I doubt Zelle will recognize them. I tried linking my personal Zelle account to it a few ways. No success. And, of course, Zelle does not work with business accounts at all, so that will never work.

i hope that helps. if a Square moderator wants to come in and correct me, I’d love to see that. But I’m pretty sure what I found out is where things stand currently.

Both of my business bank accounts will NOT accept Zelle integration or payments. I was told by Zelle it is only meant to be used as person-to-person transfers and not for businesses. That was two years ago so maybe things have changed.

Oddly enough one of my local banks told me the same thing but I have another bank account with another business that accepts Zelle right through the bank’s app and customers pay regularly with it no problem. Maybe that bank has a different agreement with Zelle? I’m not really sure, but it definitely works on one account.

Square does not work with Zelle,

However you are very wrong about business accounts.Zelle does work with business accounts from other banks.
