Green light won’t come on

I have two new square card readers. Both paired successfully. But neither flash a green light when i click charge. can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong?

Once you have paired your Reader, at the top of your screen, do you see a black banner saying Reader connected/ready and a battery next to it?

If not, your Readers may not be fully paired, you can follow the pairing steps here.

It's important to note that when you press 'charge' only one green light will appear and this means it's ready to be tapped. Once you tap, four green lights will appear, but if you don't tap the card or phone for a few seconds the charge will time out and you'll have to start again.

Here is a helpful Youtube video, visuals may make what I'm saying clearer, it's a bit outdated but the steps are the same.
