There are a few&lt;A href="https://squareup.com/help/gb/en/article/5673-square-contactless-and-chip-card-reader-troubleshooting" target="_blank"&gt; &lt;STRONG&gt;troubleshooting steps&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/A&gt; you can try.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;First of all, please plug in the card reader for at least 20 minutes to be sure it’s charged. Then follow the steps below to reset the reader:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;1. Use a small object like a hair pin, pen cap or paper clip to firmly press and hold the button on the card reader for 20 seconds or after the 4 lights stop blinking red. Do not let go of the power button until after the red lights have stopped flashing.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;2. After 20 seconds, release the button and wait 10 seconds.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;3. Press the button again to turn the reader on and observe any lights on the reader.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Before you try to pair again, please make sure of the following:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;1. Make sure the device is &lt;A href="https://squareup.com/gb/en/compatibility" target="_blank"&gt;compatible with Square Reader here&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;2. Remove the reader from your phone/tablet's Bluetooth settings as well as from the Square POS app. you should see &lt;STRONG&gt;Forget this device &lt;/STRONG&gt;option&lt;STRONG&gt;.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi all,&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I’m at my wits end here and I’m getting stressed and frustrated. I have one square reader that just won’t work, no matter what phone or iPad i ask it to connect to, it tells me I need to update the pos application.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I went so far as to uninstall the app and re download it but that didn’t work, if I connect another reader then it works, but I can’t keep running at a reduced till count, I know the machines are cheap, but it’s less than a year old, I have emailed support but got no reply.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
