&lt;P&gt;As it's been a couple of days. I imagine that this has now been resolved, however if you believe that your device is stuck during a software update, I recommend factory resetting the device. You can find the steps to do so in &lt;A href="https://squareup.com/help/gb/en/article/6537-square-terminal-troubleshooting" target="_self"&gt;our support centre here&lt;/A&gt;.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Another step I would take in this case would be to schedule your software updates so that you can migrate any risk of an update during your business hours.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P data-aura-rendered-by="26353:0"&gt;Software updates are, by default, set at 03:00 local time to avoid any disruption to your normal business hours. Software updates typically take around 20 minutes to complete, but may take up to one hour.&lt;/P&gt;
