Hello!

We're a cocktail bar having just switched to Square and reopened our venues last week. (Woo!)

Pleased to say that all went smoothly with the new EPOS system and everything worked as expected. We're using Square Online's Self Serve facility for ordering drinks to a table. The few guests who tired it, had no issue - which is a great start.

Is there any way of added a time restricted discount? Preferably automatically? Eg Happy Hour (Half price off a specific category, from 4-8pm)? Are there any work arounds that would achieve the same result?

Down to business - it's possible to setup a time-restricted automatic discount within the Square Point of Sale app. This meant orders placed in person through the app will have the discount applied to it. You can set this up from your Square Dashboard under Items > Discounts like in the screenshot below.

If you're looking to apply discount to self-serve orders placed via the QR code, there isn't a way to do it automatically. A workaround would be to offer a coupon code to customers during happy hour. The limitation with this is that you can't specify a time, only a date range but you can try to control it by specify the number of coupons available.
