Payment button callback?

Hi. We are Hayling Island u3a and we want to streamline the membership renewal process as much as we can since we're volunteer-run.

We've started using Square to process credit card payments and that's working well.

We'd now like to integrate online payments into our web site. Checkout links do most of what we want, but I can't see a way to get a callback when payment has been processed successfully. What we want to do is thank the member for renewing and update their record to show they've paid.

I've seen that done through other payment systems by providing the button with a URL to invoke at the end of processing (in our case that would contain an encrypted query string providing member ids).

Is that - or something similar - possible with checkout links?

Hey @AndyHenderson, thanks for your post and welcome to the Community 🙂

So at the moment what you have in mind isn't something that can be done with Square Online Checkout Links to my knowlege.

It sounds like it would require developer help, but I'll definelty double check this next week and follow up with you then, or maybe one of our other community members has had a similar idea who can help.

I've looked at the developer forum but all the references to a callback or return URL are to the Square API. No doubt that can do what we want. I'm a retired developer, but I'm looking for a much simpler solution.

A callback mechanism would be very helpful to us and would greatly improve our members' experience. If there's no feature at present, can you add it to the pile of enhancement requests?
