how to connect square terminal to iPhone using square for retail app

Hi 😁

We use the square for retail app (green coloured icon one) we have a square register running this software and we also have a square terminal running this software too.

Ive been trying most of today to get my iPhone (XS MAX) with all software updated to connect to my square terminal using the square for retail app. as in the square for retail app you can scan barcodes using your camera in your iPhone and the item appears in the basket for the sale.

When checking settings>hardware

on my iPhone running square for retail there in no option to connect my square terminal ?

All that is there is the following

Square card readers

printers

barcode scanners

there is no option for square terminal!

Now if I open up the other software point of sale (the grey and white coloured square icon) which I do not really use and I go into.

settings>hardware

the option comes up in that software to connect to the terminal! so i've connect to the square terminal with my iPhone XS Max but using square point of sale app but now I can't use my iPhone to scan barcodes! that function ability has gone.

Why can't I connect my square terminal to my iPhone using square retail app ? while also being able to use my iPhone to scan barcodes on products ?

Am I missing something ?😫

Hey @OTCF, that's a great question!

At the moment, it is only possible to connect Square Terminal to the Square Point of Sale app. Connecting Square for Retail to the Square Terminal is not supported currently.

We'll be sure to announce any changes to this feature, here, on the Community. So do make sure to keep an eye out!
