how can i add delivery option on square terminal

I have a square terminal, which i used face to face at fairs, but i also use to take orders over the phone etc.

i added my products, but how can i add a delivery option as if i add delivery as an item any discounts are also taken from delivery charges which is not what i want to happen

So you can achieve this by using Dining Options! This will allow you to select how the order will be fulfilled. To turn on dining options:

From your online Square Dashboard, visit your Items Tab.
Select Settings > Dining Options.

Four default options are automatically created when the feature is enabled:

For Here
To Go
Delivery
Pickup

You can keep the default list or customize your options. The first dining option listed will be the default dining option for every new sale made with the Square app.

Dining options can be applied to an entire cart or to individual items:

For every new sale, your default dining option is automatically applied to the entire cart. To change the dining option for the entire cart, tap your finger over the default dining option.
To apply a dining option to a specific item in the cart, tap the item > choose a dining option > tap Save.

All this does in the terminal is show the dining option words above the item under review sale.

what i need is

i sell a mug for £9

the delivery charge for this is £3.50

so £12.50

this is fine if i just want to do that as create the item and the delivery as 2 separate items

but if i want to offer a sale of say 10% which is to just come off the item price (mug) and not the delivery

so 10% off should be

mug £8.10 + £3.50 delivery = £11.60

but if i set up a 10% discount currently the 10% is taken off the full £12.50

so i need a way to set up a delivery option and set that to £3.50, then i can add this if someone orders and wants it delivered.

Ah okay, I see where you are coming from @kwikmugs. Apologies for the misunderstanding on my part.

I just had a quick look on my own dummy account to test to see if this was possible and was able to achieve it by creating a discount for a specific item, meaning that that same discount wouldn't apply to the entire sale. To create a discount that will be automatically applied to an item or category of items:

Visit Items > Discounts in your online Square Dashboard.
Click Create a Discount.
Enter the discount details.
Toggle on Automatic Discount **, then select **Item or Category or Quantity.
Click Add eligible items or categories to apply discounts to certain items or categories automatically.
Choose the specific item that you want the discount to apply to.
Save.

I tried it with the items and prices you've named above and this is what it looked like when putting through payment using the Virtual Terminal.
