Pre-set donations

We are a charity holding an event shortly. We ask for donations. Is there a way of pre-setting a small donation level say of £3 please so people can tap and go?

Hi @SimonS1, welcome to the Seller Community 🙂

It is not currently possible to use the Square reader as a self-serve, ‘tap to donate’ solution. The Square reader cannot be pre-set to charge only specific amounts and requires the user to manually enter each transaction at checkout.

I know that other sellers have worked with companies such as GiveTap or Give Star for charity donations, so that may be something you can look into.

@SimonS1 like you I've been looking for some 'tap to give' or repeat pay style options to support some charities I work with.

@Breffni - they're a couple of vendors I'd not found yet, thanks for the links!

I think this is a great reminder though of what we get from Square included in the processing fees as looking at GiveTap it's really hard to swallow an extra 2.5% fees per donation (that's not including processing cost!).

Fully concur. We've been very happy with Square but will look at an alternative for this purpose.
