Once you have recreated the categories online, you are able to add items to each category using the bulk edit function.

Hi,

So I have lots of existing categories in my inventory (Items> Categories), but when trying to add these to online there are online two options... to create a new one or a quick add. Can I not use the categories I have already set up?

If you have set up these categories in the Square app, they do not sync to your online store. It is confusing but categories in the app and online are two different entities. You will need to recreate the categories you need online as new ones.

Oh really, that's quite ridiculous then. So I have to copy my categories and create them manually and sort my 2300 odd items again just for online 😐

Saying that, when I first started merchandising it gave me an option to choose a category from the app, but now it just doesn't. Quite annoying
