Using Square Reader internationally

Our account is registered in the UK, but we are looking to travel to Copenhagen for a conference where we will be selling items. Am I right in thinking that we won't be able to take card payments via the Square reader as our account has been registered in the UK?

We had similar difficulties before whilst at another international conference. We had to email the invoices out and ask for people to pay via their phone by Apple Pay etc, which was a bit of a pain (especially when the WIFI was a bit dodgy!).

Interested to know if there's any way around this.

Hi @Tom442, welcome to the Seller Community 👋.

That is correct, any card transactions attempted while travelling internationally can’t be processed with the Square Reader. When accepting card payments with Square, you need to be located within the country where you activated your Square account. We explain this in more details on our Support Centre.

Unfortunately, there is no workaround to use the card reader abroad, but we'll let you know if this ever changes.
