Use one Square terminal for two businesses - is it possible?

I have recently become a Square user. I am treasurer of two organizations and would like to use the same Square terminal for transactions by either organisation, rather than having two terminals. Is this possible? The terminal I have is registered to one organization, and I can't see how to register for the second organization. Any guidance you can give would be very welcome.

Hi @dwanless , thanks for posting and welcome to the Seller Community 👋.

Square hardware isn't associated with an account in particular, and you're definitely able to use the same Terminal for your two organisations. However, you'll need to create a separate Square account for the second organisation by following these steps: Set Up your Square Account.

Once set up, I recommend creating device codes for each account to make it easier to log in/out:

Sign in to your Square Dashboard and click Settings > Device Management > Device codes.
Click Create and enter the number of device codes you want to create and click Next.
Select the type of device you want to add, like Point of sale, Kitchen display system or Kiosk.
Select the location where this device is used and click Next, if applicable.
Select the device profile and click Next, or click Not now to skip this step and add a device profile later.
Enter the device code name and click Create. If applicable, set an owner passcode and click Next.
Follow the steps to sign in on your device using the device code listed.
