Variations - Coding Bug?

[Through Square Win Desktop Dashboard:]

After adding stock tracking and image to the 'default' variation, I created another few variations to the same item.

When trying to add stock tracking to those, the item stock levels would not want to save (red error box on top).

However, if I leave 'default' variation with no stock tracking and stock=0, I can add those, and save those, and delete the 'default' item variation, no problem.

But this seems to me like a coding bug.

@Arie may be able to look into this more with you. Definitely doesn't sound right, and might be a bug. I can't test myself as all of my items have stock already allocated to them.
