Seeking advice on lower priced android devices which work with the square reader

I am trying to work out what lower priced android phones work with the Square Reader. My current 6 week old Oppo will not work with the reader and I am needing to get my EFT payments up and running in order to build up my business.

does anyone know what mobile phones (preferably) work well with the reader?

Any help would be appreciated, especially from Australian users.

While I can't recommend a particular Android device, we have a list of all compatible devices here. I've had positive experiences purchasing a refurbished phone from a local business - often they come with a warranty as well, in case this is something you haven't considered yet.
