Weebly Hosting Email

Hi I have received an email (copied below) I'm not sure what I need to do about it. I don't have a free site, I have a pro site. When I hit the link in the email to upgrade it takes me to the sales page where I can upgrade from Pro to Business or Business Plus. Anyone else having this issue?

You currently have a free Weebly website published on a custom domain (or vanity URL) and are not subscribed to a paid Weebly hosting plan. As of 14 March, 2023, sites connected to custom domains are required to have a Weebly hosting service plan to remain published.

What does this mean for you?

To keep your site published on a custom domain, you will need to purchase a paid Weebly service plan subscription. If you take no action and choose to remain on a free Weebly plan, your account information and all associated site content will remain intact and accessible to you within Editor, but your site will be unpublished on 14 March, 2023 and will no longer be visible to visitors or connected to your custom domain. You will need to republish your site on a free Weebly subdomain to make it publicly visible again

Here’s what you can do next:

To keep your site published on a custom domain,ou currently have a free Weebly website published on a custom domain (or vanity URL) and are not subscribed to a paid Weebly hosting plan. As of 14 March, 2023, sites connected to custom domains are required to have a Weebly hosting service plan to remain published.

What does this mean for you?

To keep your site published on a custom domain, you will need to purchase a paid Weebly service plan subscription. You will need to republish your site on a free Weebly subdomain to make it publicly visible again (e.g.: my-name.weebly.com).

)

Note: If you don’t take any action by 14 March, 2023 your site will be unpublished from your custom domain and will no longer be publicly visible online.

Hi @SusanWilliams,

It seems that Weebly are removing the ability to have a free site on a custom domain (i.e. SusanWilliams.com). So as of march 14 the site will become unpublished (not visible to the public). The only option to maintain the site on the custom domain is to sscribe to the paid plan:

https://www.weebly.com/au/pricing

Alternatively you can maintain the free site under a subdomain of weeble (ie SusanWilliams.weebly.com)

https://www.weebly.com/app/help/us/en/topics/how-can-i-change-my-sites-address-or-domain-name

Regards,

Bruce

Hi Bruce, thanks so much for your reply. I currently pay for a Pro site, $144USD so I'm a bit confused.

Oh, perhaps you have another (unpublished ?) site under your account also. IT may be a generic email, but it certainly doesn't look like it. As long as your main site keeps going perhaps a follow up email after the 14th may make it more clear which site it's referring to.

A pro subscription should require no action.

Regards,

Bruce
