I understand why QR codes would be your preferred option, @Chris_J_G!

Given how online payments are linked to the platform, it seems they will route to your main location's bank account. However, I can create items for separate locations and generate a payment link via a QR code for those items. I haven’t tested whether payments through that QR code would route to the associated location's bank account, but it could work in theory if you create location-specific items first.

After creating your item (ensuring it's available only at the specific location), select it and scroll down to 'Payment Links.' Enable 'Create a payment link or buy button,' then select 'Copy.' This will open another window where you can create a QR code.

It’s worth testing to see if payments go to the associated location's bank account or default to the main account.

Hi All,

New to Square. I administer a mental health charity. We operate peer support groups in multiple locations. Each location meets once per week, and at different times etc. They are self run, currently with their own bank accounts. Currently attendees pay cash, or do a direct transfer into the groups bank account. Our goal is to have a QR code at each location that will enable a fixed payment via square to be made, and that deposited into that locations bank account.

From what i can see, square allows me different locations, and i can associate a different bank account with the different location. However, when i set up an item in square, and associate with a physical location (and not the web site) I cannot generate a QR code / payment link. If i do associate thew item with the online site, the QR code will work... but i wonder which bank account the payment will make it into.

Any suggestions on how to get square to do what i want it to?

Hi @Chris_J_G,

Welcome to Square and the Seller Community! 🙂

You’re spot on about creating multiple locations and assigning different bank accounts to each. The QR code situation can be a bit tricky, though, as they operate through the Square Online platform and default to your main location's bank account for payments.

Currently, I don’t have a workaround for routing QR code payments to separate accounts. Is it essential to use QR codes? Are you looking to eliminate the manual step of processing each payment in person?

Hi Laurie,

Thanks for the reply.

Are you looking to eliminate the manual step of processing each payment in person?

At each location, there is no point of sale terminal etc. Currently a honesty system is present - participants either leave cash in a cash box, or perform a direct deposit into the relevant bank account. The QR (at each location) code would make it much easier to make / receive payments.
