Exempt an item from any discount

I'm looking for a way to NOT have any discounts ... automatic or manually selected ... apply to one of my items. The item could be considered either a 'service' or a physical item.

I use Square for selling wine, merchandise and tastings in my tasting facility. I want to 'exempt' tastings for any other discount applied to a sale that typically is a mixture of 1 or more tastings and one or more bottles of wine. The wine is discounted automatically based on number of bottles sold. I have other discounts set up that are manually selected/applied. However, the tasting fee should not be discounted.

Ideas anyone?

I noticed it's your first post, welcome to our community 👋

While you can't make items exempt from discounts, there are a few settings you can select to make sure your staff doesn't accidentally apply a discount.

1. Log in to your Dashboard and go to Items > Discounts.

2. Select one of your existing discounts, or create a new one.

3. Scroll down to > advanced settings > show settings.

4. Turn Require a passcode to apply discounts on.

If you're using Team Management, you can also disable the ability to apply discounts via Team Management Permissions:

1. Head to Team Permissions and select an existing Permission, or create a new one.

2. Select Checkout > Discounts > turn Apply restricted discounts and comps to a transaction off.

3. Select Continue > Save once you're done.
