Cannot swipe gift cards.

We swipe credit cards daily and it works just fine. When we have to process a gift card, we have to manually enter in the gift card number for it to work. We used to be able to swipe the gift card but cannot anymore. Does anyone know why that is?

Your issue may be more technical than other community members can figure out ... if you have not already found a solution, perhaps contacting Square's Support for help as they can look at info that no one here can.

Hi @DakotaTrails - I'm sorry to hear that this issue with your Square Gift Cards has brought you to the Seller Community.

You should be able to swipe the gift card in order to redeem it. Are you attempting to swipe the gift card through a Magstripe Reader, a Square Stand, or a Square Terminal?

I'll keep an eye out for your reply 👀
