old stands being reused

im new to the square stand. I see lots of them online for sale thru Facebook market. Im not sure if they go out of date like electronics. I know old electronics go out of date because of newer updates. should I purchase a new one and can a used one work as well?

Square Stands actually have no software in them that would make them out of Date. The Ipad that slides into the Square Stand houses most of the updates for IOS and for Square Point Of Sale apps. The other updates are in the Square readers themsleves. I bought a New Stand when I started and a Refurbished Ipad and its been working great since 2019. The big issue is when you buy used you would need to see which Version of an Ipad and Size Ipad will fit it. Square now has at least 2 versions of the Square Stand, a White version that you would need to purchase a $50 Tap/ Dip reader for unless it is included with the used one. Now the Black version Square Stand ver2 does have the Tap and DIp feature built in.

So if buying used find out what all is included.

Is the bluetooth reader included?

Why are you selling it?

Some people may just want to update from the White version to the all included Black version.
