I prefer to use tap to pay on Note 20 Ultra 5g, but some of my clients do no have a contactless card. When tap to pay is enabled, using the a magstripe reader prompts me to insert the chip. I do not have a chip reader device. In order to process the payment, I have to cancel the swipe, go into settings, disable tap to pay, go back to checkout, run magstripe reader, then re-enable tap to pay for the next client. I had this issue in April 2023 when tap to pay was first released. I thought maybe it's a bug that would be resolved with a little time. Almost a year and a half later, I still have the same issue. Is there a better solution?

@miau This sounds like a bigger issue with the intercompatibility of samsung's hardware and software updates. My recommendation would be to pick up the chip card reader that pairs with bluetooth.

The tap to pay on the phone is a great idea and works "most" of the time. If you are doing it more than occasional, I would go with the dip/tap reader dedicated. You really don't want to swipe chip cards as you get 0 protection for chargebacks then.

https://squareup.com/us/en/hardware/contactless-chip-reader

I have had the same issue with the hassle of backing out of the payment process to disable the tap to pay for the last year. I have a Galaxy S21+ 5G. And now since I just implemented the Square Appointments App with my salon business had the first of a few clients that need to dip instead of tap. It would not connect to my reader today for them to dip. I use the Square reader (Dip & NFR capability) that sits in the Dock for Square reader and it is always charged. Hopefully there is an answer in the Community for this issue.
