    <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://community.squareup.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/419002"&gt;@RustyTreasures&lt;/a&gt;. &amp;nbsp;As you probably suspected already, cash sales are not included in the new vs. returning customer report. &amp;nbsp;That being said, they can be if you attach a customer to every transaction on your POS, or add a new customer if that is the case. &amp;nbsp;If you don’t do this, Square can’t possibly know whether a cash customer is new or returning.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;In my shop, we just don’t worry about cash sales. &amp;nbsp;They are less than 20% of our business, and the other 80% gives us a good enough metric that we can rely upon. &amp;nbsp;We thought about doing what I mentioned above, once, but decided against it because it would cause customers unnecessary pain and slow down the checkout process. &amp;nbsp;Actually once we implemented a loyalty program, that helped a lot since loyalty customer want to earn their points, so they give us their phone numbers when they order. &amp;nbsp;So it’s a win-win!&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;How does the system know if they are new or returning if customer pays with cash?&amp;nbsp; I feel my numbers are incorrect.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
