The Google Pixel 3a has NFC payments listed as being compatible, but the Square app gives an "unsupported device" error with this phone.

I have two phones and have tried on both, even on a factory reset. The Pixel 3a is clearly not compatible with NFC payments through the Square app, either because of some kind of app bug that nobody knows about, or the supported device section on the website is outdated.

Hey there, @chinagreenelvis - Thanks for surfacing this to the Seller Community. I'm sorry to hear that you've having some trouble with Tap to Pay on your Google Pixel.

Firstly, I want to confirm that you've enabled Tap to Pay from the settings in the Square app:

Sign in to your Square Point of Sale app and tap ≡ More > Settings > Hardware.
Select Tap to Pay and toggle on Tap to Pay.

Once Tap to Pay has been successfully enabled, the banner at the top of the screen will read ✓ Tap to Pay.

Additionally, you'll need to enable NFC payments through your phone's settings as well:

Ensure your device is running Android 9 or higher.
On your device, navigate to Settings > Connections > NFC and Contactless Payments, then toggle ON Use NFC.
Ensure “Developer options” are turned OFF in your device settings.

Please Note: These steps may vary depending on your specific Android device.

If you have already enabled these settings and you're still seeing the "unsupported device" error, could you please share a video of what you're seeing when you attempt a Tap transaction? Then, I can take this to our engineers for further investigation.

Device drivers are not keeping up with new hardware.

People have to buy phone hardware that is compatible with Square.
