Just got this email and started clicking in a panic, we rarely get reviews as it is so this got my attention. Links direct to a website that looks EXACTLY like Square's log in, fortunately I looked up at the URL to see it was not Square's. Be careful!!!!

You both may already know this, but sharing in case others see this thread:

Official Square emails will come from a “@squareup.com” or “@block.xyz” address. Please forward any non-Square emails to spoof@squareup.com, so our team can investigate. Be sure to also mark the email as spam and delete it from your inbox. You can learn more about recognizing and reporting phishing scams in our Square Support Center here.

Fraudulent email but looks authentic

Just got an email with subject line "A customer left you a negative feedback..." It looked real, even with Square company info at the bottom and the usual "if you have questions..." The email said the customer feedback category was "service not provided; unprofessional", and they were suspending my account and deposits. They offered me the opportunity to address the issue ("click the link below"), but I was suspicious. I checked the Square website directly for my messages and saw there had been no complaints at all -- ever!

Clues to make me suspicious:

Started with "Hi there" instead of using my business name. Complaint was "service not provided". I am not a service company, I sell at the farmer's market. Suspending deposits? It had already been made.

So, Community, watch out for what looks real and use your logical reasoning before you react. And always log on to the real Square website to verify your notices.

We are aware of a phishing email that's been sent to a few of our Sellers, posing as Square. I've merged your post to this existing thread where a couple of your fellow Sellers reported receiving a similar email as well.
