Can't enter tips for Apple or Google pay in Square Online Store?

Hi, I'm having a problem that when a customer orders remotely and pays with Apple Pay, then they aren't able to leave a tip or notes for the order. Other payment types don't seem to have this issue. Anyone run into this?

It has come to my attention that our customers can't tip if they're paying with Apple Pay. Only possible when entering in CC info. Is there a workaround for this?

Hey @FoxandLion-

We were experiencing an issue on our end with Apple Pay and our new Online Store for individuals who signed up/set it up in the last 3 weeks or so. It has since stabilized.

Are you using our Square Online Store? Have you signed up for it in the last three weeks? Let me know so I can look into this further.

I'm afraid tipping with Apple Pay is not supported at this time. 😔 I'll let the Product Team know you're looking for this, though!

I've been using the online Weebly store for awhile. I do think it's new users in the last few weeks that have been using apple or google pay. It still happened today, should I update the app?

I'm having trouble with people that are paying with Apple Pay and Google Pay on the online store. They aren't able to enter tips or leave notes.

Hey @FoxandLion-

I checked-in with our Square Online Store specialist, @AdamB. I want to apologize for not reaching out to him earlier, I just hadn't heard of this issue before so I figured it may be browser issues.

He verified that as of right now, the Square Online Store does not support accepting tips from Apple or Google pay. It's something we're working on as a feature, but isn't available quite yet. I will post in this thread when I have an update on the status of tips with Apple and Google pay. Thanks for your patience, and again, apologies.

Thank you @isabelle and @AdamB . It's also not letting them leave notes, such as when they want to pick up or if they don't want certain condiments etc.

Due to the virus we are only offering take out orders of preordered meals once a week. It is so much more convenient to send people online order links from my phone and the square register Ap. However, many people tell me over and over again that they want to add a tip due to the situation. However, they are not able to. This is very frustrating as we are losing revenue that we could use at this time. Please, is there anything that can be done? I would rather use my phone at home, then go into the restaurant every day and send invoices from my TOAST POS device. Thank you!

This has really frustrating for our guests and baristas give the current restrictions and would be useful information to have when setting up online payments and should be included in the settings page and/or FAQ. Marking the issue as solved is also a bit misleading since it's a "work in progress."

I don't use either pay option, myself, so I wouldn't have been aware of the issue if it weren't for some concerned customers.

@Ginadiss14 - while there's not a way to tip using apple pay, you might be interested in setting up donation links to send to your customers. Set it up the same way you set up checkout links - there's an option to choose donation as the link type.

Since we've had to take online orders only, customers want to leave tips but are unable to do so if they use Apple or Google Pay. Is there a way for them to do so?

Tipping with Apply pay through the Online store is a growing feature request but it's currently not supported.

I've joined you with other Seller asking for the same thing so we can easily track. This thread is the spot to check back on if this feature becomes available in the future.

Hi @keyworth- As you'll see here, tipping with Apple Pay is still on our list of feature requests. We'll keep you and others updated if we hear about any new developments.

I placed an order for personal use and instead of using Apple Pay I did the regular checkout. I was able to change the tip amount. But if I go straight to Apple Pay there is no option to do this
