I just signed up with squareup. new customer. never been here before. tried to get my free magstripe reader and it requires payment. advertisement said it was free, what gives?

I'd like to know that too. I click the button that says "get free reader" and it takes me to a page to purchase one for $10. This is very frustrating and I'm starting to wonder if this is how it's going to be with Square.
