T E Transaction

Hi! I'm new to Square and just entered 2 test transactions using the virtual terminal online. Mastercard worked fine but AMEX shows my company name as T E Transaction and below it says Doing Business As T&E Transaction. I called tech support they said call AMEX. I called AMEX they said call Square. Anyone have any suggestions?

Transactions that haven't posted may show differently. However, your credit card will usually show SQ*"company name*. Square is the processor of record and they make a notation of the business behind the SQ*. I'll show you an example below.

I would give you a note of caution. Using the terminal to take a keyed credit card is more expensive and has more risk. If you can do dipped/tapped in person transactions are much more secure and EMV compliant. There is just less risk. Big $ keyed transactions where you input customer card info can get flagged by credit card companies for fraud, especially for a new business with no transaction history.

I would say that the naming for the Amex transaction has to do with how Amex views square as a processor.

Hi Donnie. Thanks for your reply. It shows up correctly on Chase Visa pending transaction with SQ* Mapps Travel but not on Amex. Strange. I hope you're correct that it may be correct when it goes from Pending to Actual transaction but I have a feeling it won't. I'll post here if it does.

Hi Donnie. You were correct today the charges appear as they should on my Amex online statement. It was just during the “pending” stage they were incorrect.
