Square Order Export - creating multiple empty csv files

When exporting from Square Orders, it is creating a bunch of empty csv files and it's splitting my orders up into multiple files. It used to give me a single file of all my orders.

Only two of these files has any order data in them. I expected a single csv file with all my orders

I would also include a screenshot of where you are generating these orders if possible or a video recording so we can see the error in action - it will help with getting support if it is a bug or user error.

Reproduction steps:

Login to Square
Click Items & Orders from the main menu
Click Orders from the menu
Click Export
Click Generate
Click Download

Check the date, I think you are pulling 1 year and thatis generating the extra files - i changed it to 1 day and got 1 file

Hi @zechcamp - the Square Orders team made this change in order to improve the speed at which the export is generated and emailed to sellers. I'm sorry if it has disrupted any flows or tooling that assumed zip files wouldn't be generated. Please note that at this time, the logic is that if sellers choose to export orders for a period of 180 days or less, we won't generate a zip file.

When exporting >180 days at a time, files with empty orders may be generated in order to give sellers piece of mind that no orders were received in a certain time frame (rather than sellers thinking that the export function was malfunctioning and skipping over some time period).

@faheem We have events in which people sign up via Square Online.

We may have signups available over six months in advance.

I need to be able to download one CSV file of Orders over a year period, then filter by event. (Which is what I used to do before the change).

Another option is to create an Events Signup Report, which currently does not exist.
