why are the rates different for card present transactions

why, if the card is present and the chipless, wireless hardware is working, and I am not manually entering the transaction do rates vary from the norm of 2.6% to my most recent of 2.87%

according to the foot note, this was #2 square processing fees and any 3rd party fees. there was no indication that this was anything other than a regular credit card

Hey @raimie- I'm not sure about that 2.87% fee. Are you using an API of some sort? You can always reach out to our Support Team and have them take a look at your fees. We're not able to see that info here but Support is more than happy to check it out!

thank you for the suggestion. I have sent an email as suggested, do not know what an api is, am only using the device procured from square, a wireless reader. the cards are present, I understand when factoring in the transaction charge of .10 the 2.60 rate does increase slightly but 2.87%? for reason # 2? for a Visa card? just does not make sense
