Aging Report?

I'd like to print a report of on-hand inventory by age. I know I can see sales history but right now I'm only interested in what I have in stock and how long I've had it. Is there a way to run a report for this?

Hey @karah1 this is not something we currently offer in our Point of Sale app, but you may want to consider using our Square for Retail subscription. It does not have a specific "aging inventory" report, but you can view and Inventory History report, which will let you see the stock history of that specific item and when it was first received/sold.

Hi Ashley, I am subscribed to Square For Retail and I did find that sales history report. Unfortunately it is not helpful for the purposes of searching for inventory age because as you mentioned each item must be clicked on to find out when it was entered. It would be very helpful to be able to access a report of inventory by age so that I can make decisions about what items to mark down or styles that may or may not be selling quickly. With hundreds or thousands of items in a catalog, clicking each item individually is extremely time consuming. As a small business with only myself employed full time it’s nearly impossible. We are in the same position as karah1 and I have the same issue. The ability to tracked aged inventory is key to knowing what sells, often when it sells, and thus what to return or write off. As a business with little storage space and limited shelf space (what business does not have limited shelf space?) we NEED to know what items are stagnant without spending hours pouring through item details.

C'mon Square, get on top of this. All the neccessary data is, after all, in each Retail for Square users' item database.

I would also like to see this report in square for retail. It is incredibly hard to determine if an item has been sitting on our shelves for a period of time without moving, this would greatly help us in taking markdowns or having a sale on specific items. Has a request to have this report developed been submitted to the retail reports team? I feel that it could be a useful report for many retail businesses.

Same. This seems like it should be a critical function of Square or any other inventory management & point of sales system. I imagine nearly if not all users of the platform could use this, especially over the last year or two.

Ok, it’s been 18 months since OP asked about an Aged Inventory report, a standard report in every other POS I’ve seen. At least as the ability to export the Inventory History report so we can calculate it ourselves. Doesn’t Square understand that product sales reports are useless without context of inventory age or sales velocity? Please provide an ETA for useful inventory reports or the contact info to someone who can find out.

We also need this report. Frankly, the reports in Square are terrible compared with Shopkeep and Lightspeed.

An inventory aging metric is one of THE most important metrics for a retail business and the continuing lack of one seems inexcusable.
It would also, at least conceptually, be easy to accomplish. Simply add a date field to, for example, the Vendor Sales report and the Excel download would provide the date any item came into inventory. A quick Excel data filter should easily show each items’ age. That’s a bit geeky but at least it would give us what we need to know.

Is anyone at Square listening?

I'm in the same boat in needing an aging report, the closest thing I have come across is "History" under Inventory Management. To use this report is tedious, because you cannot export it to excel to filter and you cannot actually see what's still in stock.

Its 10/5/2022 - how have we not created this report we ALL need. Jesus Square, If you ran a small retail business, you would understand the need for this and it's importance, your Dev Team needs to LISTEN to its CONSUMERS.
