Pop up/Alert when an item is added to a receipt

Hi, we ship a lot of items and whenever we ship out of State we should be removing out local sales tax from the items shipping. However, when we are busy we inevitably do not do this which results in the customer paying more money than they had to and us paying state sales tax on items we did not have to.

Is there a way to have an alert pop up when shipping is selected reminding us to remove the sales tax if the items are shipping out of state?

if not any ideas/workarounds?

It sounds like we may want to peek at your tax settings, @Dimplesshop 👀✨

You should be able to prevent out-of-state customers from paying state-specific taxes by setting up a tax rate similarly to the one shown in the screenshot below, and ensuring that the Automatically calculate taxes box is checked:

thanks for the response. the issue is not with out of state customers but with in state customers who are having their purchases (gifts) shipped out of state.

I want a pop up when shipping is selected to remind the employee to remove the sales tax if shipping out of ny...

Ah, I misunderstood the question - thanks for letting me know @Dimplesshop!

When a customer has different billing and shipping addresses, the shipping address is what will matter when it comes to charging tax. Are you saying that you'd like there to be a pop-up screen that tells your employees that an order is to be shipped when they click it to fulfill the order?
