How to do inventory counting with Square app for Android

I see that iOs devices can do cycle counts and full counts. We still have some time before our financial year ends (October). I was trying to figure out if I can either do it on my Android phone or from my Dashboard on my computer. I'm not sure if we will continue using Square if we can't do something as important as inventory counting easily.

I was able to locate this Support Center Article on Square for Retail, by device. Shown below are some Retail features that aren't available on Android Mobile Devices.

No that wasn't very helpful. I'm still not sure if you can do cycle and full inventory counting on the square register. I will need to be able to do that if we are to continue with square. We currently use a square register but we don't have any ios devices.

No worries. I was asking about the android app. I guess the answer I was looking for was that there is no Square for Retail app for android. There's only a Square app for android that lets you make sales.

Another question you might be able to clear up for me: is the ios app for iphone and ipad the only way to do inventory counting quickly? I could do it manually item by item in the online dashboard or on the square register but it would be great if I could do something similar to what the ios square for retail app does as far as inventory counting goes. I'm really trying not to buy an ipad to do this.

@ndixon - Correct, the Square for Retail app is only available for download through the Apple App Store, not Google Play for mobile phones and tablets. However, Square for Retail is available for the Square Register. You can learn more about this here.

You can edit and manage your inventory on your mobile device, your Point of Sale, or on the Square Dashboard. There are some instructions on how to do this in this Support Article: Basic Inventory Management.

I have just gone through the same scenario while testing functionality to convert from another POS to Square. The dashboard allows maintenance and visibility into current and historic inventory counts, but the Register and Android devices have no way of initiating and conducting either of the count options (full or cycle). I was told the bottom line is that android users who are using the Square Register have no ability to use the inventory count functionality at this time and must use alternative methods for adjusting inventory or purchase an iPad/iPhone.

I also received a link to the support center Features by Device article when I first brought up this issue and quickly pointed out that the Inventory Count functionality is not listed in the article even though it is not supported on all devices.

Thanks for the reply. It makes me feel like Square has some sort of deal with apple to get people to buy more devices. The fact that you can't do this with the dashboard or the square register is a little ridiculous to me. Luckily, a couple of my employees have iphones/ipads. If I had known about this before deciding to get the square register, I would have gotten the square ipad pos stand and an ipad. It would've been a lot cheaper.

I have a Square Register. I subscribe to Square for Retail Plus. I login to my Register using the device code. This presumably puts me in the Square for Retail app, yes? I do not see a method to conduct an inventory count through the Register. When I tap on 'inventory', my only options are 'stock overview' and 'purchase orders'. I do NOT see an option for 'stock counts' like I should be with Square for Retail. Please help.
